Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the club's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from above,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell like this with results like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to the top, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
