Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
