"Enough time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."

The actor posted archival material from the production, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without mirth".

"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.

He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator

"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.

In a new development, a Los Angeles court official ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.

A judicial mandate put a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" connected to the ongoing investigation.

The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a public database citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
