President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

The president said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president addressed journalists. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”

Attendees assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support policing efforts in the capital.

Honoring the Soldier

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the leader of her former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to help others.”

Funeral details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with one count of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to suspend asylum processing and halt issuing entry permits to holders of travel documents.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Morrisey mentioned on television.

Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to visit his relatives.

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” he told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
